========================

Thanks to my friend Wes M., we now have another batch of master tapes that are going to be circulated for the first time.

This should be new for all the Aerosmith fans, collectors.

On this particular recording, the levels were low and after the tape flip were even lower.

I've boosted the volume +6 to +10 dB.  This sounds much closer and louder now.

Thanks to Wes for doing the tracking and Thanks to Jeff for taping the show and sharing his master tapes.

The opening act was Collective Soul.

Check samples and Enjoy !!

This is Aerosmith live during the 2009 Guitar Hero Aerosmith tour coheadlining with ZZ Top. It's a very good audience recording. It would have been perfect if it wasn't for a screaming fan nearby, but it's great either way. It's part of the shows where they played the full Toys In The Attic album (except for You See Me Crying). Anyways, here is the download link, enjoy it:

COMMENT ON THE SHOW:
This was a VERY good show, so THANKS for this release! I was there, in the pit, center stage by the mike.One of those shows when you BEG that someone will be able to do a great recording. "Joe Roberts" has written spot-on liner notes, that starts like this: "OK, now it's clear. If you're looking for the wildest Bruce party, go to Italy or Spain. But if you're aimed at attending the finest setlist and getting the less obvious choice of songs, you gotta head to Scandinavia. The audience comes with a great knowledge of Bruce's work, a depth of feeling for all of it, and a special empathy for him. As a result, Bruce feels free to be as loose and emotional as he can possibly be. and all of a sudden the night becomes magic".
He felt enough at home to do the Darkness outtake "Ain’t Good Enough For You" in a hilarious way, really figuring out how to play it! With "Night", we got his definition of what "dark" means here in Southern Norway in late July (a little bit darker than a month before, when you may read outside without a light all night).

Notes: The semi-famous show from the Manning Bowl, one of the summer warm up shows for the Done With Mirrors tour which would formally start in January. Seems like a wild crowd here, Tyler admonishing fights in the crowd. Interestingly there is a version of "The Movie" played here before "Same Old Song And Dance," I believe the only known live version. Also "All Your Love " is played, a semi-rarity. The quality here is dicey. You'd think the open air venue would help the sound, but too often it is muffled and uneven, but not altogether unlistenable. I did get this from the dude who recorded it and it's the only audio source I know of, so this is as good as it gets, if that is any solace. There is also about 60 minutes of rough video that was broadcast on local V-66 that exists. Here is some remberence of the show I found on the net....

  "In 1985, Aerosmith played a show at The Manning Bowl in Lynn, Massachusetts with Foghat and another Boston band, Farenheit. It was Joe Perry’s birthday. About 20 of us made the trek to Lynn that day. It was a typical, hot, Indian Summer day in New England - perfect for a beer-filled, outdoor show. However, none of us were prepared for the scene when we arrived at the Bowl.

  The 20,000-seat, football field was overrun with people, a lot of them bikers and local Lynn thug-types. There was an especially large showing from one of the local motorcycle gangs, called the Rumpot. When Aerosmith finally hit the stage, a couple of 1/2-naked metal chicks decided to push beyond a thick row of bikers. About two minutes later, one of them was dragged back by her hair, covered in blood by the biggest biker I have never wanted to see in my life.

  The crowd, hot and agitated by Foghat’s way-too-long set, was surging forward toward the stage. People were being dragged over the stage barrier in various stages of injury and unconsciousness. Nobody was sitting in the stands, and the crowd of about 20,000 were all on the field. I’ll never forget the look of fear on Tyler’s face as he implored the crowd to move back or they would have to stop playing. This rationale only made the crowd angrier and Tyler and the bad boys from Boston pulled the plug after about an hour or so after taking the stage."

Notes:

Interesting aborted Aerosmith show I acquired in the early 1980s. Aerosmith had played Philly Oct. 9, 1977 and as they returned to the stage for an encore, someone chucked an M-80 at the band. The firework exploded, gashing Joe Perry's arm. The band played another show in Philly Dec. 19, 1977 without incident. The band came back for this show on November 25, 1978. From the get go things are flying on stage, including a shoe. Tyler asks the crowd to instead throw "bras and joints" and the show continues until the beginning of "Sight For Sore Eyes" when someone from the City of Brotherly Love throws a bottle at the stage, hitting Steve Tyler right in the face. I believe it's Joey Kramer who grabs the mic and admonishes the crowd. We then get a stage annoucement that the band will not come back on, as the Philly crowd groans. The tape shuts off, but we have a local radio dj talk about what went down. Aerosmith had bad feelings about Philly apparently and did not return until February 1983,with Rick Dufay and Jimmy Crespo on guitars when the band did two shows 14 days apart that month.
