This is the ENTIRE concert.

I was NOT present at this show and never was at any show
at Antonino's, which was a pizzaria on South Craig Street in
Oakland. The venue was variously known as Antonino's Pizzaria,
Antonino's Showcase and even as Antonino's Pizzarino, although
somebody may have been kidding around with that last one. The
venue has long since vanished. I was given this tape by a
long-time Pittsburgh resident/tape trader about 19 years ago.
He told me that it was a 3rd gen tape and I have no reason to
doubt that statement. This is an historic recording, being the
first time that the Ramones EVER played in Pittsburgh, PA,
the Decade show that I recently posted being the third, I believe.
That's about all that I know. Here is a brief synopsis of the
recording, good points and bad...

Good points:

1) This is a COMPLETE recording of the show.

2) There are no speed problems or other faults to
detract from your enjoyment of the show.

3) There's virtually no talking at all around the taper.
There's no whistling or shrieking. The audience is very
respectful towards this young band from NYC, as opposed
to the audience at the Decade in 1979, which was the last
Ramones show that I posted.

4) All instruments and vocals are clearly heard. You can
actually understand most of what Joey is singing. This is
less clear than the last Ramones tape that I posted,
so if you loved that, you'll like this...

Bad points:

1) There is a faint hiss to this recording. It's very mild
compared to some tapes I've heard of this era and generation.
You should not find it intrusive.

2) There is just a little distortion in this recording but,
again, it's not bad at all.

3) This recording is not as good as the other Ramones shows that
I have posted and it's difficult to describe why. The recording
is loud enough, certainly, and all of the instruments and vocals
come through pretty clearly. I think that it's a combination of
recording device quality (not great), master tape quality (again,
not great), venue acoustics and band volume. All of these combine
to result in a sound experience that is a little sub-par. It is,
however, not that bad a listen at all, once you get attuned to it.
This is NOT a recording for completists only !!!

Well, that's about all that I can think of to say, so let's wrap this
up. Finally, no buy, no sell, no mp3. Please seed this as long as you can.
Please trade this freely as it is probably fairly uncirculated.
This show will be a welcome addition to any Ramones fan's collection.
I will post a sample to help some of you decide whether or not to get it.
That's about as accurate an assessment of the show as I can give.
The setlist should be 100% correct. If it's not, let me know. The
Ramones DID play at this same venue on the next night, so if you have
that show, please post it or PM me for a trade. So, as Mr. Natural is
so fond of saying, have fun, don't freak out and enjoy the concert !
Hey ho, let's go yet again.......

(009268) Ramones Providence, RI 1992-11-08

Ramones
November 8, 1992
Johnson & Wales Culinary Gym
Providence, RI

FOR TRADING/SHARING ONLY

Despite taking place in a gym, this recording is pretty decent. The gym setting actually had several advantages in the sense that it was large enough for the Ramones to go full tilt on sound gear and power to provide the best acoustics possible. (I saw them in many smaller venues in the past where sound problems and power failures occurred due to obvious limitations.) The spacious gym also allowed me a chance to position myself away from noisy audience members or bodies hurling around the pit, so there is little audience noise on this recording. This was the 26th time I saw the Ramones (out of 29) and they never disappointed me.

Rec. Info:
1st. gen. audience tape (unknown equipment used)
This cassette (TDK SA-X 90) -> playback on Harman Kardon CD 491 -> Zoom H2n (at WAV 16/44) -> SD card -> HD -> Audacity (edit/remaster) -> WAV 16/44 -> TLH8 -> FLAC -> DIME ->
YOUR EARS AND MIND...Gabba Gabba Hey! The first 10 tracks of this recording are seriously distorted, which make an easy listening almost impossible. After that the taper seemed
to realize the problem, and levels are fixed to a much better quality. This didn't even distract the taper from a visit to the loo (documented in track # 14), which pulled me
out of my seat with a sheer laughter attack (which I have not full recovered from, yet!). Due to and overlap of a few songs, there's no tapeflip audible. It's originally been
betwen track 20/21 set.

1…2…3….4!

This one is fer RAMONESFOREVER, all others, take heed…

It would hardly be fair of me to request that ya liberate all yer Butthole Surfers rarities if I was gonna hold on to my recordings, so here is this completely uncirculated Ramones show…

There is a reason I held on to this one fer so long, however…it’s a tad rough. But, the miracle of azimuth correction really helped this recording out, and it really ain’t as bad as I originally thought it was…

Still, if yer not a hardcore Ramones fan, ya make wanna skip this…I left 3 samples, as always, fer you to decide. While the dynamics on this one aren’t the best…or even THERE, fer the most part, ya may still enjoy it…who am I to say…I’ll seed it and let you decide…and at least let this one get into the hands of a man who archives one of the greatest rock bands ever…Kudos, my good man!

Joey says ‘It’s great to be here at the California Club, but the place was called Club California this week…it changed names a buncha times…it was Industry fer a while…South Beach fer a spell…I don’t know what it is now, or even if it’s still there…

October 13th is Arturo Vega’s birthday, and the band is in pretty fine spirits…busting out “Needles and Pins” fer the first time in a long time and dedicating “Blitzkrieg bop” to him.

I think I unplugged the mic during the encore break…the tape still ran, but there is silence…I left it on here and just tracked to silence out to leave the show in real time…just imagine a bunch of drunk goons screaming their heads off…or better yet…get drunk and scream yer own head off…

Anywho…

Enjoy but, please!

Don’t Sell!!!
Don’t Disseminate in MP3 Format!!

(008681) The Ramones - October 13, 1979,Evanston, Illinois

The Ramones
"Rock and Roll College" bootleg
Cahn Auditorium, Northwestern University
Evanston, Illinois
October 13, 1979

Probable SBD recording (possible FM)

This is a top-notch, "must" show for Ramones fans and people who want to become Ramones fans.

I downloaded this show from The Traders Den just the other day. It was shared there by direwolf-pgh in exactly the condition he'd received it (via a previous download). Most of the folks on db.etree.org list this show as SBD, though it could possibly be sourced from an FM broadcast. Either way, the sound quality on this (barring the 2 *minor* flaws noted below the setlist) is about as good as you're going to find for a bootlegged Ramones show.

direwolf-pgh listed the lineage as follows:
Taken from Original Silver Boot > WAV > SHN

The only problem I had with this show was that the tracking job (from the original boot, I suppose) was absolutely dreadful. Everyone who knows anything about the Ramones realizes that most of their songs start with Dee Dee shouting his trademark "One-two-three-faw!!!" count-off. Well, in the version I downloaded from The Traders Den, most of the 1-2-3-4's were placed at the END of the preceding track instead of in their rightful place at the beginning of each song/track. And worse yet, some of Dee Dee's signature count-offs were split--part at the end of a track and part at the beginning of the next track. And lastly, some of Joey's brief song introductions were buried at the ends of tracks instead of the beginning of the respective tracks.

That said, I decided to take a couple of hours to re-track this entire show in Nero's WAV editor before converting the WAV files to FLACs via FLAC Frontend. My wife thinks I'm absolutely nuts to bother doing this (regarding the 1-2-3-4's: "they're only numbers, NOT the songs"), but I think there's enough of you Ramones purists out there who demand a decent tracking of this show without having to suffer the butcher job from the original boot.

Therefore, the revised lineage:
Silver > WAV > SHN > mkw shn tool > WAV > Nero WAV editor (for re-tracking and slight fade adjustments) > FLAC Frontend > FLAC > you!

My thanks to the original uploader of this show as well as to direwolf-pgh for deciding to "pay it forward" on The Traders Den.

If you like this show, please take a moment to post a comment on the show's board. In my opinion, the people who put the time and effort into sharing their shows here online don't get thanked often enough. Don't just "grab and go"...say Thank You if you really appreciate what you've downloaded. A little kindness goes a long way!

(007904) Ramones August 28, 1987 Living Room Providence, RI FLAC

Ramones

August 28, 1987

Living Room

Providence, RI

Line-up: Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Clem Burke (a.k.a. Elvis Ramone)

DO NOT SELL - FOR TRADING/SHARING ONLY

I had the good fortune of seeing the Ramones many times at the Living Room during the 1980s, so when this show was announced there was no reason to think that it would stand out in any way so many years later.  Of course, the brief 2-show run by Clem Burke on drums changed all that.  (The following night 8/29 at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ would be his final show.)  I fully expected to see Clem last with the Ramones, especially given his experience in Blondie and later Chequered Past, but after attending this gig it really didn't surprise me to hear that he was out as drummer.  Clem got through the set okay, but there were obvious problems - missed drum parts, fills in the wrong spots, awkward transitions between a few songs and at times Clem just seemed a bit lost.  Even when nothing was clearly wrong, the overall feel was that the band was out of sync.  So in a short span of time during 1987, Richie left the band, Clem Burke was out after two shows, and the Ramones welcomed back Marky.  Even in the pre-internet days, that kind of news travelled fast.

This tape and subsequent digital transfer was uncirculated until December 2010.  The overall quality of the recording is below average, but at times it's a bit better than that.  To the best of my knowledge no other source exists.

This is another uncirculated Ramones recording, mostly because it required so much Pro Tools post production "magic" to get its flaws smoothed out. At the beginning of the show there was one channel that was from a video feed and the other channel was a microphone. During the third song, Blitzkrieg Bop, the video was stopped by Ramones management and that channel did not work again... So - the beginning of the show is a matrix of the 2 sources and rest is mono with the good microphone channel duplicated to the empty channel. The splices and cross-fades are all fairly The Ramones

The splices and cross-fades are all fairly seamless though you'll hear the mix change after the transition point.

As I said above it's decent sound quality and that's especially true compared with the other Ramones recordings that I have. Since people keep asking for more uncirculated Ramones I should say that I only have about 25 Ramones recordings at the most and maybe 10 or 15 that weren't already seeded on Dime. Out of those only a few are uncirculated or even good-sounding enough to bother with. But I am going through them and will post what I can when I can. though you'll hear the mix change after the transition point.
