Elton JohnRadio Italia
Solo World Tour
Live in Lucca, Italy
July 2, 1999

Source: Radio Broadcast
Lineage: Broadcast>CDR>WAV>FLAC8

This was taken from a live radio broadcast, and there are a couple of songs that have the announcers talking over the beginning of the song but it really doesn't detract from the performance. In 1999 Elton went on the road for his first ever extended solo tour, which he has done numerous times since (a pretty good payday, I would think). The quality of this is excellent, I hope you enjoy it.

Notes:
here's a story to tell you about this tape.
It was May 8th, 1982, I can recall it perfectly because it was the day Gilles Villeneuve died.
I was a young music collector and it happened to visit the place of an historical italian music collector nicknamed "Mighty Klaus"
I lent him some tapes and he invited me at home.
At the end of my visit he opened a box and, oh God, there were some really historical recordings in there !
He told me, here are some recordings I did 10 years ago. I can copy one, only one, for you now !
I remembered seeing Yes in Milano, as well as Rolling Stones at the Palalido in Milano 1970, the Beatles somewhere in Italy and this tape of Genesis in Pavia.
I picked up that one: That's my choice !
Well not the best recording of mine he said but I really loved the Genesis Gabriel era and I was too young to see them at the time.
So here's the 1st generation copy of that show which subsequently was traded and bootlegged in inferior quality by someone in the past.
It was labelled 'early show' and if you speak Italian you can hear people talking at the end of the show and one's saying: I wish I'll be here for the evening show
Thank you Klaus wherever you are (I never saw you after that day) !

Some preamp distortion in the recorder mars the recording of an otherwise nice performance.

Nice electric version of "Got You on My Mind" provides a nice contrast to the acoustic versions performed later on the tour.

Stratcat58's cassettes contain the most complete copy of this concert that is in general circulation.

You may have a previous transfer by Beechwoods of Stratcat58's tapes. The three of us think my version has come out better.

This is a raw transfer. I transferred side A and B at the same level. Sides C and D are a lot louder and I set different levels for each. FOS has an internal cut at the end of side A and continues on side B. Side B ends with ROTSON. Side C has STC and Cymbaline, and tracks 9-12 are on D.

It appears that all circulating copies have bleed through from another recording from Set The Controls through to Cymbaline.

The show in Cagliari came after a pause in Iggy Pop's

mini-tour: a much appreciated holiday in one of the best

resorts of the world, close to some of the most beautiful

beaches in this planet: but don't expect Iggy and his

band to be relaxed or in a slow-pace, low-tension mood.

You can tell from the title that a moderate suntan and some

good Sardinian meals weren't enough to soften the man's

attitudes, and in fact these are 74 minutes of pure

outrageous energy: having no new CD to promote, the

Iguana is free to browse through his repertoire from

last year's "Beat 'em Up" up to the early Stooges hits:

the audience, though barely audible here (it's a SB

recording, folks!!) made their part in building up

a terrific show.

NB - You will hear 4-5 'cracks' scattered around the show: they

are NOT 'clicks' or digi-noise, but came directly from the SB

and are probably due to the plugging/unplugging of some equipment:

your disc should contain no digi-noise at all, as the 18 numbered

seed discs: if you want more details, pls check the EAC log file

attached.

"IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE"

"Oh my life is changing everyday
In every possible way
And oh my dreams
It's never quite as it seems
Never quite as it seems"

- Rest In Peace -
Dolores O'Riordan

This comes from my FM radio master recording broadcasted live by RAI Radio 2, the second
channel of RAI, italian public broadcaster. The broadcast involves the radio announcer who,
as usual, during every italian concert broadcast talks a lot in between the songs and that's
may result very annoying to listening. This time, however, the announcer speaks perhaps a
little less than at other times. The track no. 18 can be removed without harming listening
because it only includes audience noise and radio comments.
The sound quality is almost excellent, except some minor gaps that always can be present, and
the concert is complete.
Have a nice listening.

I received 2 Ray Charles recordings several years ago from Mauro.

Shortly after I had sent copies to a gentleman who ran the Ray Charles video museum website. His name was Bob Stumpl.

I had asked him to work out the setlist for me, because I am not that familiar with Ray Charles catalog.

Bob had the recordings for a couple years and never got back to me.

Sadly I later found out that he had passed away a couple years ago. So my main source for information was gone.

It was up to me to decipher what was on these tapes.

I spent several days on both of these Italian recordings doing the best I could to figure out the song titles.

There are still some mystery tracks I’m not sure about.

I’ve decided to release them as they are in hopes that somebody can fill in the song titles.

In addition there was conflicting information about the date and venue.

The tape is labeled as Florence Italy December 10.

setlist.fm has Florence as December 5. And December 10 is listed as a Bari Italy.

Due to the discrepancy, there’s no way to know for sure which date this recording comes from.

I’ve decided to label this as December 5 Florence.

Nirvana

recorded at Il Castello, Roma (Italy)

on tuesday 19 November 1991

about a thousand a different versions are available for this set, but most if not all are sourced from the same RAI broadcast by "Planet Rock" from 20 years ago. In occasion of the recent new remixed or whatever double disc version of Nevermind, italian radio decided to rebroadcast that gig. This "new" source, if not better than the others, might at least be useful for a matrixing project. See Live Nirvana's Bootography Guide To Nirvana Bootlegs for more information on commercial releases of this show. WARNING: in italian radio customes the DJ speaks a lot in-between songs. And I mean a lot.. His/Her purpose is to introduce songs with bits of bio and translate what the artists say, or to describe to radio listeners what's happening on stage. It may gets VERY annoying, and trust me it does, thus we might consider this recording ONLY FOR COMPLETISTS. But the songs, the actual music, are (usually) not spoken over in the middle of them. It has to be noted that italian djs are on the whole adviced to talk that much by the same record companies to prevent bootlegging. But this is anyhow one of less spoken over broadcast in years...

FM radio (re)broadcast by "Radio2 Live", Radio Due RAI [second channel of italian national radio]

on friday 25 Novemebr 2011, 21:03 hours [CET]

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

note that due to disk space limitations, I will not be able to keep seeding this torrent for a long time - I will abandon the seed in a few days, maybe remove from HD these wav/flac files, and keep only my own CDR. Too many things to upload. In case of seeders going missing, enlist yourself as a leecher and some seeder will come back, and you are anyhow welcome to try and ask for additional torrenting...

checksum file included - if uploaded on other trackers or reseed (and you are welcome to do both), please include original infofile. Also, if not satisfied with my offering, you are welcome to remaster/retrack/whatever and repost, but please always clearly state where/who did you have this material from and keep original infofile. IF YOU ARE THEN OFFERING THIS SET ON YOUR BLOG AS mp3's, PLEASE SPECIFY WHERE TO ALSO GET THE ORIGINAL LOSSLESS FILES
