Marbal received his tape from Rolf Ossenberg in June 1980. It is the only stereo version I have come across. The tape was recorded with Dolby B and I left it off for playback. Marbal's tape is quite hissy but noticeably clearer than over sources for this date. This is apparent from the outset when you'll notice that the azimuth doesn't wander in the opening to AD.
Before embarking on the speed correction, I used iZotope RX3’s Azimuth adaptive azimuth alignment module to automatically find the azimuth and adjusted the right channel by +80.9 samples.
The tape runs slow and speed correction advice was provided by goldenband.
AD: +5.15%
GITC/CWTAE: +4.13%
STC: +3.83%
There's some drift, so I was unable to achieve a perfect correction but it's close.
As I have said previously, Fete de L’Humanite is one of those recordings that brings rewards if you are patient and allow your ear to tune into it. Listen out, for example, for the mesmerising and unique second half to Careful With That Axe, Eugene. Green Is The Colour and Set The Controls are also very nice. Over half a million people were said to be present at the concert.

Some time ago, my good friend Don told me he had recorded a Santana show at the Fillmore East in 1970. I found a show in circulation from 4/12/70, and did not think of it much more until he found his tape gave me a copy of the transfer.
He also gave me a copy of the program, which indicated Santana played the Fillmore on three nights: April 10, 11, and 12.
I gave a copy to Herman LR and we both agreed this was a different show. Don said he was almost certain he was at the Saturday
show, which would make the date of this one 4/11/70, never in circulation. There may have been two shows per night, and if so, this was the early one.
I want to dedicate this show to Herman, in appreciation for the wealth of Santana recordings he has shared with us here.
Bombiggity deserves credit for the bulk of the work to enable this recording to see the light of day, and in remarkably good form, given the age and circumstances of the recording. He arranged for a fresh, technically proper transfer by Popskull, consulted with Goody on the pitch, arranged for a correction with Flambay, and did the remaining remastering of the recording.
The sound mix starts out bass-heavy, but improves with the second track, and for the most part, gets better as it goes along. It's rough, still has some glitches, but overall is very decent. Samples are provided in the comment section.
The show was opened by The American Dream and It's A Beautiful Day. Don recorded those, and hopefully we will have those to share as well.

Part two was stolen by furryanimal. Marbal's tape sounds fuller and less tinny than the commonly circulating 1st gen to DAT.
This is a mono recording. On side A the right channel is stronger at first but then they even up. Side B is fairly well balanced. I tried iZotope but didn't feel it helped so have left this transfer raw. It runs fast.
Marbal's tape has an extra copy of Astronomy Domine at the end of side B (track 6). It features the missing introduction from Roger and sounds better, so I have included it as an additional track at the end.
It's worth listening out for the interesting opening to AHM.

As always, some background information first:
Last Autumn I visited my old friend HB in Mannheim who had recorded close to 200 concerts in the Mannheim/Frankfurt area from 1970 until about 1975. He used a portable RtR mono tape recorder with a single external mono microphone but copied his masters onto 18cm reels when back at home after the shows, as tapes were expensive at the time and archiving this way was cheaper than keeping the master tape of every show. Speaking to several tapers of the time, this must have been fairly common practise. Compact Cassettes weren't available at this time. In later years he copied some of his back-up masters onto cassette tapes as the quality of these had improved dramatically by the mid seventies and they were easier to handle. Later on copies of the reels were also made with a DAT recorder, but I'm not sure on the whereabouts of these. Fortunately HB was wise enough to keep his RtR back-up tapes for all these years.
The shows he recorded back then covered nearly all genres from Rock to Jazz, including Led Zeppelin, ELP, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd and even Ike and Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Blood, Sweat and Tears and many many more.
So when I arrived at his appartment in Mannheim on a Saturday lunchtime he had a huge cardboard box of reels on the floor of his living room and he gave me the whole lot for a fresh digital transfer.
So here you have a fresh digital transfer of HB's third ever concert recording, done by myself with my revised Revox and my MixPre3 for very best results. This tape has been around for many years and has been digitised on at least two other occassions. I'm not claiming that this is the ultimate version, just a fresh transfers, reworked by myself.

Original Recording Equipment: mobile RtR recorder, most probably a Telefunken 300TS halftrack mono , maybe with the single external microphone TD33 with balance input control.
Source Master Tape: Unknown, probably 13cm BASF or Shamrock RtR (wiped when re-used later)
Original back-up Tape: 18cm BASF, AGFA or Shamrock RtR 1/4 Track mono
Playback Tape Deck: Revox A77 on 1/4 track mono, 9.5cm per minute
Digital Recorder: Sound Devices MixPre3
Manual azimuth alignment (with mono headphone output setting on the MixPre 3 - which in most cases enables pinpoint accuracy)
Audacity: edited, heavliy pitched, normalised and de-noised
iZotope RX9: Kirchhoff EQ plus Brainworx bx Stereomaker plug in
HBs first reel that has eight shows on it plays back way too slowly and here I had to add about 14% pitch to get it at the correct speed. Surprisingly he doesn't remember this, and therefore couldn't tell me how this happended.
NOTE: This show is in 24-bit format and may be burned to a DVD. It cannot be burned to a CD as is.
