Spider seems very happy and talks a lot throughout the show - especially about the Irish football team, who qualified for the world cup for the first time ever. This is an upload which I do for another old friend of mine (no.66). He has a collection of recordings partly which he taped himself

and most of them originate from the 80's.

This is the first band of 4 which were on the tape (band listing see above). This seems to be the first existing recording of the Pogues which were strangely named The Black Velvet Undergound on the tape. Unfortunately only 3 songs but nevertheless a great document in quite good sound.

My first attempt at fixing this was only partially successful - Kitty was clumsily reassembled

and, although the pitch/speed was improved, it still wasn't quite right.

This time I fixed: Clipping, DC Offset (this was way off), Kitty, Volume & Speed (+0.4 semitone).

The result - A great show from a great band now sounds about as good as it's ever going to,

with a real upgrade in audio quality.

Intermittent buzzing and other sound problems prevent this from being really top quality,

but it's classic early stuff for Pogues fans nonetheless.
