(009718) Pink Floyd 1977-07-06 Stade Du Parc Olympique Montreal Quebec Canada (All Is Forgiven 6 Source Mix) (FLAC)

Pink Floyd - 1977 07-06 Montreal All Is Forgiven (Stereo Version) 6 Source Mix

Brand new mix, never heard before August 22, 2008 (Except by me and a few friends, he-he)

Yes, this is the "Spitting Incident" where Roger spits on a fan after calling him to the stage in a "demonic" voice
Yes, the spitting incident (allegedly) propelled the group to write "The Wall" to isolate the band from the fans
Yes, there are 6 sources synchronized. 3 from "Recorder 1" and 3 from "Recorder 2"
Yes, The Last Animalized is most definitely, 100% sure, no doubt about it, Recorder 1
No, there was not any noise reduction or any EQing done

Audio Used:
Recorder 1
The Last Animalized (YEESHKUL, flac)
Azimuth Coordinator (DIME, shn)
Fire Works Show In The Canadian Walls (YEESHKUL, flac)

Recorder 2
Who Was Trained Not To Spit On The Fan (YEESHKUL, flac)
Montreal 1977 (DIME, flac)
Roar Ends (DIME, flac)

Lineage:
Download 6 versions in either .shn or .flac > Goldwave (Make each version a single .wav file) > Adobe Audition synchronize (time expand, time compress, and/or split and move), then mixdown all 6 files to one file > Goldwave (split files with .cue sheet) > DBPowerAmp convert to .flac (level 8) > You

By calling this the "Stereo Version", it means there is a "DTS" version available. This version never went thru any steps to make it lossy.

None of the 6 versions were the same speed as each other. They all fluctuated and had an ever-changing speed rhythm of their own, which did not stay the least bit constant throughout the files. I chose the "Harvested" version as the correct speed version, so the other 5 had to match the speed of "Who Was Trained Not To Spit On The Fan". The other 5 versions would individually speed up for a minute, slow down for 8, speed up for 3, slow down for 45 seconds and so on, making it almost impossible to synchronize. In some areas, the files were off by 6 or 7 percent, more than a full second in 20 seconds. They all had either some missing parts or some additional parts making each version either longer or shorter that the others, a whole different problem than just speed correction. Finding those parts was an adventure, it added to the level of difficulty for sure. What looked like might take a time compression of 8 seconds in 5 minutes, really needed 10 seconds cut out to match the others and then a 2 second time expansion.

For every minute of the show, each version took me approximately 15 minutes to synchronize. 6 versions times 15 minutes = 1 1/2 hours, times 146 minutes for the concert = about 220 hours to complete. If I had known it would take that long I never would have done it, but after I started I couldn't stop.

On various sites, a few different people said they were going to do a mix after they finished downloading that particular version. I would love to hear from anyone that started doing a mix, what you encountered, how far you got, etc. Maybe just to confirm that it was "almost" impossible to synchronize.

SOUND + VISION TOUR
Montreal Forum
Montreal, Quebec, Canada

stereo soundboard recording

original Wardour (Wardour-277) silver CDx2 >
dbPoweramp Music Converter > Flac Level 5

We've got something special going on here with the Montreal Forum. On the SERIOUS MOONLIGHT TOUR in 1983 db played 2 nights there on July 12 & 13, 1983. I just gave you complete soundboards of those 2 shows. The July 13, 1983 show is one of the most widely released db unofficial recordings.

Then we move to the GLASS SPIDER TOUR in 1987. db played 1 night at the Montreal Forum on August 30, 1987. That show has been OFFICIALLY released. It became official in terrible "official" quality when the Glass Spider DVD was finally released a few years ago. The video is from Australia but the bonus CDs were this Montreal show. Fortunatly, the show was remastered & sounds A LOT better in the recent "Loving the Alien 1983-1988" box set.

Then we move to the SOUND + VISION TOUR in 1990. db played the 2nd night of the tour there for 1 performance on March 6, 1990. That is now presented to you here in another soundboard recording. It's great to have such an early show to hear things a bit rough around the edges. Songs like Golden Years, Panic in Detroit, Alabama Song, John I'm Only Dancing & Panic In Detroit were dropped or just rarely played as the tour progressed. It's also great to have db's voice still intact before he started yelling through most shows.

It could be cool if we found the other Montreal Forum shows in soundboard quality: June 14 1974, February 25 1976, May 3 1978

The Montreal Forum was shut down in 1996.

Notes: This is NOT the FM broadcast. It was taken from a "Reference Tape" of the complete performance. It was recorded to
document the 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour - a planned double album that never saw the light of day.

The last 00:57 of "China Girl" was lost during a sloppy transfer to cassette in 1995 and was patched with the FM source.

PRRP Special Anniversary 04

Well, here it is, our PRRPSAE 04 Anniversary show. Genesis Montreal 21/4/74. Some of you might be wondering why we chose to remaster this recording for PRRP when so many other recordings of this show exist. Many of you likely have the FADE remaster group version of this show and probably agree that it is the best available recording of the event. The PRRP staff was involved in the final remastering of that recording, which we believe at the time was an important addition to the recording archive.

But, after a recent review of that work, we discovered a number of problems with the remaster that could be address now, some years later. Below is a list of the problems with the current FADE remaster that we did not address well (or at all) when we did that work. With this new remaster for PRRP, the same source recording was used and all the issues have been addressed. We hope that you agree that this makes the recording more accurate as a representation of the event and a more enjoyable listening experience.

Notes from the Re-Master*

1. More advanced noise reduction techniques used so noise reduction*is not so harsh. The FADE version was over noise reduced and likely lost some of the detail as a result. Different techniques were used for this remaster resulting in a much more natural sound. Side to side comparison of the FADE and PRRP versions will emphasise how poorly we noise reduced the former version.

2. Speed correction. The show needed variable correction in the range of 0 - 3%. With the FADE remaster, we did not check the speed of the recording. This time, we used the Genesis Archive live material and Genesis Live commercial release as standards. This new PRRP version is now speed corrected to those standards. The pattern of speed error was quite consistent with reel-to-reel or cassette tape movement. It made sense and was easily corrected.

3. Eliminate audible radio host during quiet sections. A careful listen to the FADE version of this show will disclose the sound of a radio talk show announcer speaking. This was either “bleed through” from another radio station or was present on the tape used to record this show, prior to the recording process. This announcer’s voice is most obvious at the beginning, before Watcher Of The Skies begins and during the song Horizons. During the FADE remaster sessions, there was no way - at the time - to deal with this vocal interference without corrupting the sound quality of the show. Here, in the PRRP remaster we have been able to eliminate this extra

material. This is particularly important for Horizons where the announcer was actually louder than the guitar and ruined the song in the FADE version. Not so in this version.

4. Adjust dynamics to maximise dramatic effect of music. This was not done during the FADE remaster. Many radio broadcasts will compress music so the quiet sections are too loud and the music loses much of its dramatic feel. By adjusting the show dynamics, we hope to return to the recording some of the natural variation inherent in this early Genesis music.

5. Re-track show to separate stories from songs. The FADE group policy specified that introductory song stories should not be tracked separately. At PRRP, we have always tracked them separately and this release is no exception.

6. Attenuate tonality excesses where they occurred. Certain sections of this show had excessive bass or midrange. During the FADE remaster sessions we were told to leave them unaltered. With a different approach used during this PRRP remaster, we made the decision to attenuate these excesses for two reasons. Firstly, this would be done for any recording that is being prepared for commercial release, and secondly, it produces a more well-balanced recording that in our view is more enjoyable.*

7. Smooth crackle in The Musical Box. The source recording for both the FADE and PRRP remasters did have some crackle in a section of The Musical Box. The FADE remaster left this crackle unaltered because the techniques used at the time were too harsh and degraded the quality of the music in those sections. Different techniques were used during this PRRP remaster with a desirable level of improvement in crackle distortion and an acceptable level of music quality.

Paul McCartney 1989-90 Tour
The Forum
Montreal Canada
December 9, 1989
065-PMWT
Source One and Two

Second performance north of the boarder, this time in Montreal. We have two source tapes for this night, starting off with a cassette featuring another 1st generation recording but unfortunately nothing to get too excited about. Overall, the recording is quite nice, but it is riddled with mic noise from time to time and drop outs. Mainly between songs, but often enough to become annoying. This night we have a double fake-out before Hey Jude, “If I Were Not Upon the Stage" followed by a bit of "The Hustle". IIWNUTS is missing from the cassette but you will find it on source two.

The second source comes from a CD "Merci Beaucoup Montreal Au Revoir" on the Blue Bottle label. The rip of the CD had SBE's which I corrected and I adjusted the fade between discs to make the show continuous. Couple of other track split adjustments and then naming and tagging them to finish the process.

Also included are a radio interview with Press Conference Highlights. Enjoy!

25 Minute Radio interview with Press Conference Highlights

Ripped by Atlasstar 4-2021 & Updated 6-2023

You might ask what's the point of this series, haven't these shows all been posted before. Well, yes, most if not all of them have been posted before. But the quality of many of them has not been good, plus the lineage of many is pretty much non-existent. Also, there are some that are posted as "source one or two" when in reality are the same recording just from a different poster or cdr. In this series alternate sources means a different taper. Plus, many of the tapes I collected at the time of the tour and are low generation, many 1st or 2nd. Plus a few masters. I am also including relevant material such as press conferences and radio broadcasts from the tour. So that we can have everything collected all in one place.

Please share freely, do not convert to lossy except for personal use. Please trade with the original files after allowing me sufficient time to post on my favorite sites.

All recordings are kept as original as possible with minimal processing. Unless noted otherwise the only adjustments made are Automatic Phase Correction, Level adjustments and cleaning of any rough or abrupt cuts.
