Notes: This is the first of two shows in Indy. Recorded from second row center. There were a few speakers along the front of the stage that helped give a nice balanced sound. The crowd was pretty lively, but that was all behind the taper and didn't interfere with the recording. As with the second show, he added the John Mellencamp song "Longest Days" to the set which was a nice touch for the Indiana shows. Too bad that "Truckin'" got the biggest reaction of the night rather than one of Bob's own songs.
Enjoy!

Simon and GarfunkelThe Concert of a Lifetime
The Paramount

October 5, 1993
Recorder Two

I needed a break from all the McCartney shows so I reached into a pile of tapes and came up with this recording. Strangely enough I had no recollection of the performance. Looking at my old tape trade list it said it was a Master Aud recording. "I recorded this show?" Still no recollection. Figured I better RIP it and see what it is. When I heard familiar talking on the tape, I figured there must be some truth to the rumor. Digging through ticket stubs I found the ticket. More evidence that I was there. After going through the entire recording, it started coming back to me but yet is still a foggy memory.

Fairly decent recording, the deck I used that night auto adjusted the levels so at times the crowd was louder than the show. Fortunately, that was a rare occurrence as the audience was very polite for the majority of the show.

Labeled “The Concert of a Lifetime” it was a career retrospective of Paul Simon, technically a Paul Simon concert with guest stars. Artie being the biggest and featured the most. They did 21 shows at the Paramount Theater, which is below Madisin Square Garden and these days referred to as The Theater at MSG. There were a few select shows in other cities.

NY Times Article hXXps://www.nytimes.com/1993/10/04/arts/review-pop-a-voyage-through-the-decades-with-paul-simon-as-the-guide.html
Contract Clause: There is a "Two of Us" recording from the same night and as that taper suspected they are missing the final track.

Notes: Recorded from orchestra left section row N. Tickets sold very quickly, and by the time
I was able to buy one, all that was left was a single seat behind one of the support columns for the
balcony. The view wasn't completely blocked, so it would've been fine. The lady next to me and her
husband had to buy two singles just to get in and offered to switch seats with me so they could sit
together. That allowed me a better view about five rows closer and gave me better sound since it
got me almost out from under the balcony. Other than a bit of chatter a few times, there's not too
much crowd interference.

Ringo always puts on such a fun show. Go see him while you can. Enjoy!
