For those who don't know the story behind this recording, it was recorded on the last night of the band's last tour. The Kampuchea concert would take place later in the month on the 29th at the Hammersmith, making this Glasgow performance their penultimate live show. Supposedly destined to be an official live album release, it was shelved in light of Macca's arrest in Japan for marijuana possession the following month. With the Wings' Japanese tour cancelled, the decision had been made after being jailed for nine days (of a possible seven year sentence) to break up the band.
This show finds everyone in good spirits. The McCartneys owned a farm on the Kintyre peninsula in western Scotland, and Paul penned "Mull of Kintyre" there, bringing in the local Campbeltown Pipe Band to play on the recording. At this show, the pipe major Tony Wilson is introduced onstage after the song's performances, and it seems quite possible from a listen to the track that the rest of the pipe band play on bagpipes and percussion.
