Show Notes:

Adele rolling through again with a big summer tour. Voice sounds great. Do wish the setlist was a bit longer, but she's certainly committed to the audience engagement with multiple 3-8 minute chat sessions between songs. At least she's witty and charming (to each their own though). I did prefer the show I saw on the 2011 tour, as it had less stage production and featured Singer + Band on same stage. This tour has Adele front and center, with the band in a recessed stage. Although a few songs she brings some band members upfront. All and all, a good show and was enjoyed by the womenfolk accompanying me.

Recording Notes:

This is a mix of a couple IEM feeds plus Schoeps audio. Crowd noise is generally well behaved in the Schoeps recording, but there are occasional individual crowd noises throughout the show. The IEM feeds have metronome throughout songs along with counts during sounds. I've zapped all the counts and significantly reduced the metronome. However, the metronome is still there. I could be more aggressive with the filtering but it would then start to degrade the music. Regarding the mix, I usually do more of a band mix, but I kept her vocals more upfront than I usually do. After all, people come to hear Adele sing, and not guitar solos. I compared to the PA mix through the schoeps, and that's how the sound guy keeps the overall balance too.

As always, I give a friendly encouragement to people to get into taping and mixing. Just take the craft seriously and it will reward you many times over.

IEM recordings are not for everyone. If not they're not your thing, either sonically or ethically, there's excellent alternative recording out there.

Similarly, I'm mixing primarily for my ears. This is what sounds best to me. This may not sound best to you. That's a fair statement. I'm open to honest criticism (although you should have caught me when I was working on the mix!), but pointless complaining is unappreciated (naturally). Let's play nice.

Please do not attempt to remaster/remix this recording and spread it around. This has been heavily processed, and if you want to do your own mix, go get the wireless recordings (good luck) and do it yourself from scratch.

Also, please don't torrent or post on other sites without at least dropping me a line and asking. I may want to just torrent it there myself. Please ask (and wait for permission!) before putting it into any matrix + video. If you ask nicely, I will likely say “yes”.
