This may well be the worst recording of this tour. Download at your own risk. Lots of crowd noise, levels all over the place. I toyed with the idea briefly to correct some of these flaws but it would be an exercise in futility. It is what it is and all that is a hole filler unit something better comes along. Although there is something better but incomplete coming next, we could still use a better-better.

To make up for the lackluster show we have some decent tour coverage from Q-102, Texas’ Best Rock, which includes a nice interview with Paul by Red Beard. Unfortunately, it cuts short of the last few seconds. But at 43:56 long it's a good listen.

You might ask what's the point of this series, haven't these shows all been posted before. Well, yes, most if not all of them have been posted before. But the quality of many of them has not been good, plus the lineage of many is pretty much non-existent. Also, there are some that are posted as "source one or two" when in reality are the same recording just from a different poster or cdr. In this series alternate sources means a different taper. Plus, many of the tapes I collected at the time of the tour and are low generation, many 1st or 2nd. Plus a few masters. I am also including relevant material such as press conferences and radio broadcasts from the tour. So that we can have everything collected all in one place.

Please share freely, do not convert to lossy except for personal use. Please trade with the original files after allowing me sufficient time to post on my favorite sites.

All recordings are kept as original as possible with minimal processing. Unless noted otherwise the only adjustments made are Automatic Phase Correction, Level adjustments and cleaning of any rough or abrupt cuts.

Source One and Press Conference

The afternoon of the opening show in Arizona brings us a press conference of 32 minutes and 35 seconds. Paul showed up late for the PC and so Ralph Bohrson of Friends of the Earth started things off until Paul showed.

Next up we have the first of two source recordings from Sun Devil Stadium. The first of course harkens back to a vintage casette and a rather nice recording. Sit back, kick your shoes off and enjoy.

Source Two

The second source of tonight’s show arrived via the innerweb a good dozen or so years ago. No info attached to the files other than the fact it was titled a Dave Homes Master. Thank you, Dave, wherever you are.

Recording not as nice as the first, a bit distant, but still very listenable. There were a couple of cuts in the tape that needed cleaning up, a gap between tracks 7 & 8 another between 15 & 16 a third between 23 & 24 plus others in the middle of tracks like 24 and 30. These were fixed but otherwise the recording is presented as received. Enjoy!

Soundcheck 16-44

Every so often you hit a bump in the road on these projects and that's exactly what happened when I arrived at this soundcheck recording. There are a number of releases of this tape from Yellow Cat to Unbelievable Music as well as some unidentified publishers. And among them a lot of misidentifications of the recording.

Back from day one I had two different source tapes both derived from a DAT soundboard source. One tape 85 minutes in length containing 18 tracks and the other 45 minutes containing 8 tracks. But the longer of the two tapes is sort of a sample tape someone compiled from at least two different soundchecks from different cities. I would imagine there were several sample tapes created while they were working on the official live release from this tour “Tripping the Live Fantastic” which included soundcheck songs. Over the years the 85-minute recording has been attributed to Tempe AZ on April 4th, 1990. And the shorter tape Tampa Florida from the 12th. If you compare both tapes you will find six tracks that are the same on both tapes. If you refer to "Eight Arms to Hold You" they list the proper tracks associated with the correct night. However, there are two tracks from the Tampa section that I am not convinced are Tampa, but I will get into that later on when we visit Florida. For the sake of clarity I will use the song titles as listed in EATHY.

Anyway, this night’s recording is completely from the 85-minute tape with the Florida tracks removed and clocks in at 39:21, enjoy!
