Genesis,
Olympia,
Paris,
France,
7th May 1973

The French speaker is not much of an annoyance, except for the very beginning of the broadcast: he talks over half of the "Watcher of the Skies" mellotron introduction. For the rest of the program, he just explains and gives titles between songs. He says that "Supper's Ready" was originally performed between "Get 'Em Out by Friday" and "The Return of the Giant Hogweed", but couldn't be broadcast for time constraints. Interestingly, he mentions that a version of the epic can be found on a "live album that was released in England and whose performance is exactly the same as the one here". As we all know, the track was originally on test pressings, but was excluded from the final version of the album. In case the master tapes of this Parisian concert are still existing, let's hope they survive uncut: as far as it is known, with no audience versions of this show available, this version of "Supper's Ready" sadly remains unheard.

Beware: this is an AM radio recording, not an FM one, so don't expect hi-fi sound. However, it doesn't sound worse than most of the audience recordings of the era and it's a great performance so you will like this if you are a fan of the Gabriel years. It's a great performance with everyone in fine form and Gabriel in good voice. "The Knife" ends just before the "we have won" section.

David Dunnington's entry for this concert on his "Complete Guide to Live Genesis Radio Shows":

"French AM station Europe 1 broadcast part of a gig from the Foxtrot tour on their "Musicorama" show with a reporter describing the on-stage action between songs. Introducing the Knife, the announcer said that "the audience were very warm that Monday night" which helps to verify the performance date as Monday 7th May.

There are no bootlegs from the broadcast; tapes are pretty hard to find and those I've heard are of a poor standard with Knife being clipped just before it finishes. Musicorama was a popular AM broadcast in the early 70s and Europe 1 sometimes rebroadcasts in stereo bits and pieces from these early shows - for example a Pink Floyd 1970 show was partially rebroadcast in 1995. So there is a possibility that Europe 1 still have their recording from the Olympia and may air it again one day."
