Notes:

# "Cemetery Gates" (partial) tape/tribute plays.

Pantera's final show of 2023. I was fortunate enough to see them in 1996 and
2001 with the brothers (both in Toledo). I did not realize back then how
special those shows would become in my life. There are live shows and then
there was seeing Pantera. Every metal show I attended after Pantera paled in
comparison. I loved Pantera so much as a youth that hearing 2000 era "nu" metal
felt like a joke to me. There are a few exceptions, but I try my best to avoid
it when I can. When they announced tour dates for 2023 with Zakk Wylde and
Charlie Benante, there was a lot of speculation on them going out and if it was
for the right reasons. Especially with calling themselves "Pantera". Or is this
"Pantera 2.0"? Regardless, the fans clearly loved every minute and this one hour
set (opening for Metallica) is testament to that. Phil still sounds great (which
surprised me!) and the band fired on all cylinders nailing all 11 cuts without
skipping a beat. If you listen closely, Zakk's playing is different from Dime's -
but I really enjoyed hearing his take on these tracks. They just added more
dates for 2024 and will continue on with Metallica, so I hope we see them a bit
more here and there (when Anthrax is on break). If you're a fan and you've yet
to see Pantera 2.0, try to fit it into your 2024 plans. You won't regret it.

Opening for Metallica [not recorded] w/ Mammoth WVH [recorded].
