For the Bass players in da house!
the story:
The tape case says 20 feet from stage. The audio signature corroborates this as there is basically only Phil's bass along with a bit of guitar and vocals throughout most of the show. The first set when they had to thoroughly hide it
at what sounds like chest height or lower has a certain muddiness to it which cannot be characterized as quaint. I thought about asking one of my mastering guru friends to work with this, but it just doesn't seem to have the potential. there sure is some incredible bass aside from the distortions when the mic overloads the pre-amps. By the time it gets to Candyman/Let it Grow and the mic raised it up a bit the sound quality gets slightly better.

The second set is much easier to listen to, albeit still not the best of the AKG c422's ever made. There are the same bass distortions during the entire set but much less than set 1. Give it a listen if for no other reason than to hear the FINE Jerry solo in Comes A Time!
